Here are three hotels with real 24-karat gold-plated fittings but incredibly affordable rooms costing a mere VND500,000-3 million ($22-132) a night.
Billed as the world’s first gold-plated hotel, the Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake opened its doors in July 2020.
Located on the bank of Giang Vo Lake in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh District, the five-star hotel quickly garnered global attention for the real 24-karat gold coating its 120,000-square-meter exterior.
It has 324 rooms with bathtubs, sinks and toilets plated with gold and a gold tiled infinity pool on the rooftop.
“There is no other hotel like this in the world,” Nguyen Huu Duong, chairman of Hoa Binh Group, which owns the property, had told Reuters in July 2020.
He said a ton (2,200 pounds) of gold had been used.
The cheapest room costs around VND3 million ($132) a night.
Danang Golden Bay overlooking Thuan Phuoc Bridge in Da Nang City opened in 2017 with a 24K gold-plated infinity swimming pool.
A night’s stay will set you back only around VND2 million.
Ken Hotel 2 on Su Van Hanh Street in HCMC’s District 10 wows first-timers with a golden-plated door and reception.
The 10-story hotel has over 50 rooms and a night’s stay costs only VND500,000.
