VGlobal Partners (https://VGlobalPartners.com) was invited by Enda Stankard, managing Director of SIV (Significant Investor Visa) of MA Financial, an ASX-listed financial services firm specializing in asset management, lending, corporate advisory and equities (https://mafinancial.com/about/ ). Ma Financial is an official sponsor of the Sydney (Australia )Football Team. We were lucky to attend the match between Sydney and Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) Vietnam Team @ the Thống Nhất Stadium in HCMC.

Great Ambiance with HOGL Fans !

Thống Nhất Stadium Let’s talk a bit about the stadium … Thong Nhat Stadium (“Reunification Stadium”) is a universal stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is currently mainly used for football matches: it is the home stadium of Xuan Thanh Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City F.C.. It has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. Prior to 1975, the stadium was named Cộng Hòa Stadium. The site had witnessed a number of major sporting events including a crowd of over 30,000 for the playoff soccer match between South Vietnam and South Korea ahead of the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Thống Nhất Stadium … built for Football Games as per Australian Standards

Sydney Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in Sydney, New South Wales. It competes in the country’s premier men’s competition, A-League Men, under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). Before the Game The stadium is located in District 10 … The traffic becomes very dense as we approach the stadium… and we know that we are in sight of the ticket machines… not the resellers… because the matches of the day are free… yes free! We have good places and we take pictures and film the places. The atmosphere is calm and the players of both teams train. Security is omnipresent to kindly remind us to wear our masks. By the way, alcohol consumption is not tolerated in the stadium. We can already hear the drums beating and the crowd cheering for their team… Imagine during the match!

Seated behind Sydney FC Dugout

Presentation of the officials … draw for control of the ball at the start … the match begins and the crowd will not stop encouraging its team with the sound of thundering drums, cries of encouragement and the wave well orchestrated by the 11,600 spectators! What an atmosphere!

Sydney will control the ball for the first inning

and the goal … In the 39th minute HAGL opened the score after a great bit of play. Nguyen Cong Phuong played a long ball to Nguyen Minh Vuong and he passed it to Nguyen Van Toan, who backheeled it back to Vuong. The midfielder crossed into the box and found Washington Brandao, who volleyed it into the top corner beating goalkeeper Tom Heward-Belle.

Imagine the cheering crowd and the dancing steps of Washington Brandao !
What a Goal !

During the break… the crowd calmed down and the festive atmosphere returned after half-time… and the drums continued to resonate until the victory of the local favorites!

HAGL 1 – Sydney 0

What we retained from this match is the electric, energetic, festive and orderly atmosphere of the supporters. A victory for his team starts the week and the month well.

Insights : Entrance through the FC café gives you direct access to the stadium without queuing through the official entrances. Security guards inspect the bags… not the coolers 🙂 . Security is cordial and tolerant and reminds you to wear your mask. Opposite the FC café there is a good restaurant specializing in goat food where you can drink a beer and watch the matches.

This was one of the greatest moment of the event … The Players walking across the stadium for thanking the support of their fans !
