As Hanoi struggles with a heat wave that has sent outdoor temperatures climbing to 40 degrees Celsius, three resorts near the capital city offer a welcome respite.
Nala Garden Farmstay in Luong Son District in the northern province of Hoa Binh, around 150 kilometers from Hanoi, is a Vietnamese eco-resort amidst a sprawling 10,000 hectares of greenery.
It features 10 traditional houses and bungalows with a touch of traditional architecture from northern Vietnamese villages.
The resort has used environmentally-friendly materials including recycled wood, handmade terracotta bricks, tiles as well as used door frames.
Each house has a large yard covered by the shade of green trees and a swimming pool for guests to cool down in the summer.
Each spacious room is equipped with air-conditioning.
Guests can make their stay more enjoyable by cycling in the shade of green trees and picking up fruits and vegetables.
The Flamingo Dai Lai Resort in Phuc Yen Town, Vinh Phuc Province, around 45 kilometers from Hanoi, stands amidst 123 hectares of dense vegetation including grassy hills and lakes.
A particularly striking feature of the resort is that the building carries 76,000 trees, creating a fresh and cool ambience all year round.
The resort has 102 private villas, each boasting outdoor swimming pool.
Given its proximity to the Dai Lai Lake and Tam Dao mountain range, the year-round cool climate makes the resort an ideal place to shelter from the heat.
The resort also boasts a golf course, spa treatments, a 10,000-square-meter swimming pool overlooking the Bach Thanh Lake and cruise clubs.

The rooms are built above the ground to avoid insects, termites and humidity of the northern region.
The architecture at the resort is a harmonious combination of traditional Vietnamese and Japanese styles.
Bamboos are used for the roof and ceilings, while the room’s walls are made of unburnt bricks that help guests stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
